The mission of the Basic Engineering Program is to:
What to Expect
Basic Engineering, a rigorous program, with its flexibility, versatility, high standard, and concentration and emphasis in mathematic and sciences prepares the student for transfer to 4-year colleges and universities to continue their education in all fields of Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Environmental, Manufacturing, Computer Science,---), life sciences (Bio Chemistry, Bio Physics, Bio Engineering, Genetic Engineering, Pre Medical, Pharmacy,---) and sciences (Physics, Nuclear Physics, Chemistry, ---). Some students also transfer to Business, Marketing, and other majors.
It is recommended that interested students get in touch with the coordinator of Basic Engineering before the summer as soon as possible, so that if they need to improve their Math skills, they can do so by taking courses in the summer.
Majority of the students complete the requirement of the program in four semesters and three summers (six sessions) and two intersessions.
Engineering courses are also offered during the evenings.
Recommended minimum residency requirement is six courses. The following courses are recommended:
Calculus III, Differential Equation, Physics III, Linear Algebra, statistics for scientists and Engineers, Thermodynamics, and C++ for Scientists and Engineers.
